New books

Two gorgeous new books will be published soon and just recently two (or actually three) books were published and in this blog post I would love to tell you more about them.

First of all the book 9 Months to Crochet by Maaike van Koert. We all know Maaike from the blog Crejjtion and ofcourse the book Hollands Welgaren and Puur Haken. Her new book can be bought here (in Dutch here).

Another book is Workshop Tunisch Haken. A few bloggers made projects for this book. Amonghts others Sacha Blase and Janneke Assink. Janneke is a regular contributor at Link Your Stuff and you might also know her as Jip by Jan. You can order the book here but it will not be available before June.

Sacha Blase also worked on the book Meer Kan Haken. You can order this book here.

Somebody who published two books at the same time is Anja Toonen. Anja made two books with gorgeous animal footstools. I love them both. You can check them out here

New pouf

I made a new pouf for our home. As I had a grey one made with Rico Fashion Summer yarn for a long time, I wanted to try something else. So different materials and a different color. So I bought Lana Grossa Mille II and I started working on the pattern. The material is really pretty and you only need 6 balls. I ordered ten because I didn't know how much I needed, so now I have four balls left. I will find a new project for that for sure.
Do you like the pattern? It's available here on LoveCrafts. The pouf is approximately 60/65cm wide.

Crochet Vest with Lang Yarns

Click here to go to my Etsy-shop *** Klik hier om naar mijn Etsy-shop te gaan

Lang Yarns has some of the loveliest yarn, and one of them is Amira Color. I only had one ball of this supersoft and light yarn. I was wondering if it would be enough to make a vest. I used this pattern by Annelies Baes. I crocheted the bottom until row 23 (so not the other rows) and the sleeves are 2 rows of half double crochet stitches (US terms). As said the yarn is very soft and I really love the color shift. The color I used has number 966.030. I used a 5.5mm crochet hook and with this yarn the vest turned out pretty wide, so it looks better as a short vest for a toddler then a baby vest. The yarn is available (amongst others) here.

Crochet Cat Pattern

Some time ago I crocheted a cat (click here and here). It's a pretty huge cat, so I thought it would be fun to make a smaller version. So I staretd working with some yarn that I got at the Lang Yarns yarn party. I chose Lang Gaia for this cat. I thought this yarn would be very soft and great for a hook size 3mm. It was, but when I started working with the yarn it felt so different then what I expected. The yarn is not thin at all even though it feels very soft. It's has a pretty chunky feel and it's great for making amigurumi. I think that this is my favourite Lang Yarns yarn. Do you want to make this cute cat yourself? The pattern is below (scroll all the way down for the English pattern). It is based on this pattern. Do you prefer a different yarn? Of course you can use any yarn that goes with a crochet hook size 3mm. For instance Phildar Phil Coton 3 or Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK. Have fun!

Afkortingen:
V= vaste
MIN = minderen
MEER = meerderen

2. Meerder rondom. (24)
3. 1V in elke vaste. (24)
4. * 1V, meerder.* Herhaal rondom. (36)
5. 1V in elke vaste. (36)
6. * 3V, meerder.* Herhaal rondom. (45)
7-16. 1V in elke vaste. (45)
17. * 3V, min. * Herhaal rondom. (36)
18. * 1V, min. * Herhaal rondom. (24)
19. 1V in elke vaste. (24)
20. * 1V, meerder. * Herhaal rondom. (36)
21-26. 1V in elke vaste. (36)
27. * 1V, min. * Herhaal rondom. (24)
Vul het lijfje. Je gaat nu het oor haken.
28. Haak 6 vasten.

Staart
1. Haak 6V in een magische ring.
2. * 1V, meerder. * Herhaal rondom. (9)
3. 1V in elke vaste. (9)
4. * 2V, meerder. * Herhaal rondom. (12)
5-9. 1V in elke vaste. (12)
10. MIN rondom. (6).

Abbreviations
SC = single crochet
INC = increase
DEC = decrease

Body and head (you start at the bottom of the body)
1. 6SC in a magic ring. INC around. (12) Click here if you don't know how to use a magic ring.
2. INC around. (24)
3. 1SC in each stitch around. (24)
4. * 1SC, INC.* Repeat around. (36)
5. 1SC in each stitch around. (36)
6. * 3SC, INC.* Repeat around. (45)
7-16. 1SC in each stitch around. (45)
17. * 3SC, DEC. * Repeat around. (36)
18. * 1SC, DEC. * Repeat around. (24)
19. 1SC in each stitch around. (24)
20. * 1SC, INC. * Repeat around. (36)
21-26. 1SC in each stitch around. (36)
27. * 1SC, DEC. * Repeat around. (24)
Fill with fyberfill. You will now start with the first ear.
28. Do 1SC in each of the next 6 stitches. The 6th stitch is the middle of the head in between the two ears. Place your needle in the SC on the other side of the head and do 1SC in each of the next 6 stitches. You now have 12SC in a circle. If this is not clear, please go to the tutorial of the original pattern by clicking here. If you look at the picture below row 37, you can see what I mean.
29. Now do the following: DEC, 3SC DEC, DEC, DEC, 2SC, DEC, 2SC, DEC, 2SC, DEC, DEC. The last part may be very hard to crochet because everything is too small. If you can't do the last decreases, just leave them and fasten off. Now fill the head with fyberfill and attach the safety eyes. Make another ear. Just attach the yarn in a SC next to the SC stitches of the first ear and reapeat rows 28 and 29. Make sure to fill the second ear with fyberfill in time. Fasten off.

Tale
1. 6SC in a magic ring.
2. * 1SC, INC. * Repeat around. (9)
3. 1SC in each stitch around. (9)

4. * 2SC, INC. * Repeat around. (12)
5-9. 1SC in each stitch around. (12)
10. DEC around. (6)
Fasten off and sew the tale to the body.

Granny squares

I was looking for a larger project for some time, and now I finally found one. When I just started crocheting I made a big blanet. It was very pretty and I used if for many years (and so did my cat). Unfortunately it ended up in the washing machine with a blue sweater not too long ago. So that was the end of the pretty white blanket. So I'm going to make it again, but with different colors this time. Click here for the pattern of the granny square. I'm using Drops Paris cotton for this blanket, but you can also use Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran for instance. For both yarns I use a crochet hook size 4mm or 4.5mm.

Congratulations Yasemin! Please send me an email with your address. You will receive the book as soon as possible.

On the picture above you can see the surprise I got last Friday. Just recently I took a subscription on Little Box of Crochet and last friday I received the first box. I was very curious what was in it, so when it arrived I couldn't wait to unpack it. It looked so pretty! The box itself is gorgeous and if you go through everything that's in the box, you will get even happier. This time there's a little booklet in it with a pattern by Attic24, a crochet hook and yarn by Yarn and Colors. Besides that, the following cute stuff was in the box: buttons, a sewing needle, a cute stitch marker, a brooch and a set of fun stickers. Do you want to see what was in the other boxes? Click here. I'm very happy with my box and I'm looking forward to next month. Have a lovely day!

Crochet Dog and giveaway

This cute little dog is from Christel Krukkert's book Christel's Knuffels. I love the book and I couldn't stop crocheting once I started working on this dog. In the book you will see a crochet nose, but I used this nose instead. I am happy to let you know that Forte Publishers is willing to give away a copy of this (Dutch) book to one of my followers. Do you want to win it? Just leave a reply below or on my Facebook-page and I'll announce this Sunday who's the winner. Good luck!
